About Me

Yes, that's right... no more MR2 ownership for me.  When 2006 arrived I reflected on the amount of time that my pride and joy had spent stationary on my driveway during the previous year.  Circumstances had also changed since the birth of my daughter and with a more than practical, sensible, 4-door Subaru Impreza I decided it was time to find the MR2 a new home.

After a few weeks of deliberation and preparation, the car was advertised on this website, on the IMOC-UK forum, and also eBay (where the amount of interest was simply overwhelming).  As the end of February approached, the MR2 had a deposit and at the beginning of March it was sold (and taken away about a week later).  Luckily for the car (and nice for me) it was purchased by a fellow enthusiast.  After all my efforts over the years, it's satisfying to know that the car's gone to a worthy and caring home.

REASON FOR SALE

There are no clichés behind this sale -- simply a genuine reason.  Since the birth of my daughter in 2005 I can count the number of times I've driven my MR2 on one hand (not helped by the Subaru which is slightly more practical for baby gear!)  It's therefore fair to say that my MR2 has fallen foul of being an impressive attraction on my driveway.  So, it's time for my pride and joy to find another home... so another enthusiast can do it the justice it deserves.

HISTORY and CONDITION

Imported into the UK in July 2000, I bought the car in October and was privileged to be its first owner (although the importer's name appears on the V5 as a former keeper).  During my 5+ years of ownership the car has been subject to regular cleaning, servicing, and any necessary maintenance when required.  Previously adorned with my cherished registration, the car once again has a standard mark appropriate for its year.

With all things relative, the condition of my MR2 is both immaculate inside and out -- with just a few negatives.  There is a very tiny ping dent on the edge of the roof, another on the off-side rear panel, a couple of tiny stone chips, and the off-side intake trim has a scuff.  Have it on assurance that these are the only known cosmetic flaws and are not obvious unless you hunt for them.  Effectively the car has no deep scratches, dents, rust, or failing trim.  A couple of the alloy wheels have scuff marks and the rear tyre tread is getting low (2.5mm) but these outlays are reflected in my pricing.

At the end of 2004 it was observed that the temperature gauge began to creep from its regular half-way point to 3/4.  Following diagnosis (including but not limited to coolant bleeding, refilling, and compression checks) the root cause appears to be a defective thermostat which gets stuck closed (£50 part from Toyota).  Vehicle excise duty and MoT have also now lapsed.  The vehicle is advertised as-is and ALL these factors are reflected considerably in my pricing.

CONTACT DETAILS and VIEWING

Please feel free to email me to discuss any aspects of the car.  Viewing the car in situ is highly recommended but by appointment only.  Both weekend and evening viewings are possible however given the lack of daylight with BST, I'd recommend weekends only at the moment.  In respect to geography, the car is in the Berkshire/South Buckinghamshire area -- a short drive from the M4 J7.

NOTE

Please be advised that the car is in situ and cannot currently be driven on the highway.  Buyer will need to arrange tow or other collection (cost of which has been discounted from desired price).  I appreciate this is not an ideal selling situation but this is reflected very favourably in my pricing.  Project workers and other enthusiasts will not be dissuaded (and general interest should not be either).
